UN Decade of Action for Road Safety: The Half-way Point”

In late 2015, the Scientific Program Committee for the 2016 International Conference on Traffic and Transport Psychology (ICTTP2016) invited submission of abstracts for oral and poster presentations on the following themes:

  • Enforcement and Behaviour
  • Road User Attitudes and Behaviour
  • Driver Distraction and Inattention
  • Impaired Driving (e.g., Alcohol, Other Drugs, Fatigue), and Driver Stress
  • Vulnerable Road Users (e.g., Motorcyclists, Pedestrians, Cyclists)
  • Young/Older Drivers
  • Post-Crash Care and Rehabilitation
  • Intelligent Transport Systems
  • Sustainable Transport
  • Driver Training, Assessment and Licensing
  • Mobility Across the Lifespan
  • Road Infrastructure and Design
  • Public and Commercial Transport
  • Translating Theory into Action
  • Progress in the UN Decade of Action on Road Safety
  • Road Safety Education and Marketing
  • Road Safety in a Global Perspective
  • Data/Research Methods
  • Other Transport Modes (e.g., aviation, railway, water craft)
  • Other

Key Dates:

  • Abstract submission opens: 30 June 2015
  • Abstract submission closes: 9 November 2015 23 November 2015
  • Authors advised: Mid February 2016
  • Deadline for speaker registration: 30 April 2016
  • Deadline for minor changes to submitted abstracts: 27 May 2016

Mode of Presentations:

Presentations may be made in one of the following modes:

  • Oral paper presentation
  • Poster presentation – including dedicated poster viewing session with author on-site
  • Symposium Submission – you are invited to submit a symposium proposal covering the topic and presentations to be included, including proposed speakers. Symposium sessions will run for 90 minutes, and 5 speakers should be included in a symposium. These sessions will be included as part of the main conference program, and will be finalised by the Conference Organising committee.
  • Interactive Roundtable Presentation. A new aspect of the conference program, these sessions will enable authors to deliver a 5-minute presentation to a small group of delegates and engage in a collegial and collaborative environment.

Abstract Assessment Process:

  • Abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific Program Committee
  • Acceptance of an abstract will be based on the below assessment criteria
  • The Committee’s decision is final
  • Authors will be notified of their abstract results by early February 2016

Abstract Assessment Criteria:

The criteria for evaluating abstracts include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Clarity of abstract
  • Relevance to practice or policy/scientific merit
  • Alignment with the Conference theme/s

Notification of Outcome:

It is expected that authors will be notified of abstract acceptance and presentation type by early February 2016.

Terms and Conditions:

  • Should your abstract be accepted by the Conference Organisers, the presenting author will be required to register to attend the Conference as a paid delegate no later than 30 April 2016. Failure to register may result in the paper being removed from the Conference Program.
  • Neither the invitation to submit an abstract, nor the acceptance of an abstract, constitute an offer to pay travel, accommodation, registration or other costs associated with the Conference. Similarly, no speaker fee will be paid to presenters.
  • The Conference Organisers reserve the right to allocate abstracts into sessions as they see fit in accordance with the overall program objectives.
  • Abstracts that do not include all required information may be rejected.
  • The decisions of the Conference Organisers are final.
